Mizuho Kazami

Mizuho Kusanagi (風見みずほ, Kazami Mizuho) is Kei Kusanagi's homeroom teacher/covet wife and the main heroine of Please Teacher!.

Mizuho is a 23 year old half alien, half human, Class C Planet Inspector from the Galactic Federation who was sent to delta DES 8228 (Earth) to observe and study humans. Mizuho came to Earth to monitor the planet, but was inadvertently seen by Kei Kusanagi as she was just landing on Earth. This leads to a catastrophic set of events that while nearly killing them both leads to a bond materializing between Kei and Mizuho. Although she did not trust him at first, she started to become attracted to Kei and eventually falls in love with him after they shared secrets about their past with one another. She becomes a teacher at Kei Kusanagi's school as his homeroom teacher of Class 1B. But back at home, Mizuho and Kei are actually married where they keep this a secret from the other teachers, students and Kei's friends only it is seemed at some ending episodes that Ichigo Morino and Koishi Herikawa gotten to know about Kei loving their teacher.

In a conversation with Maho Kazami, Kei learns that she is the youngest member of the GF Observers ever to gain a license. She is stripped of her surveyor status in episode twelve. Also from Maho, we learn that Mizuho apparently has never had a romantic relationship, which is verified when she admits as much to Kei. Her first and only romantic relationship is with Kei as he is her first and true love. She gave him her first kiss and chastity copulates every night.

Appearance[]

Mizuho is a very beautiful young woman with long hot red hair that is tied in a ponytail (tho it does get lay down), which is styled in tube-like ringlets with bangs hanging on the left and right side, she also has purple colored eyes and large breasts.

Space Outfit[]

She wears a sleeveless black suit that is cut in the middle showing her cleavage, black gloves and black boots.

Plain Outfits[]

There are two outfits that Mizuho wears:

The first and most coming outfit she wears is a white colored baggy sweatshirt were the sleeves cuts below her elbows with a line that goes around on the shoulders, and coat-like areas on both the sleeves, bottom of the shirt and collar, she also wears blue colored Capri pants were it cuts below her knees, and red slip on sandal heels.

The second outfit she wears is a black top with a pink jacket, a long light purple skirt and black strip on sandal heels.

Teacher Outfit[]

She wears a stander teacher outfit that has a long sleeve shirt, a red vest, a black skirt and black high heels.

Personality[]

Mizuho is a kind, calm and well-behaved person. She can be somewhat ditzy, but also very open-hearted, compassionate and sociable, she is also highly intelligent.

When she eventually realizes her feelings for Kei once they begin living together, she shows restraint and maturity that she at other times lacks at later points of the series. Mizuho's character can almost be thought of as two personalities. The first of a well-mannered school teacher who is soft spoken and kind. The other, seen mostly with Kei and the Edajima's is more outgoing, opinionated, and sometimes violent! This last point can be illustrated by the events of episode 13 where Mizuho's mother held Kei hostage in a hotel.

Story[]

One of the main conflicts in the story involves Mizuho and how she tends to have great jealousy and misjudgment. While she underwent training prior to her arrival of Japanese and Earth history and customs, she was ill-prepared for dealing with the social interactions of adolescents. This trouble is further compounded by her almost childlike lack of understanding of romance initially. She even went to great lengths to spy on Kei Kusanagi while he was hanging out with a friend from school, Koishi Herikawa, on a set-up date by Ichigo Morino. Also, when Mizuho's mother held Kei hostage in a hotel, she didn't ask.

She also appears as a regular character in the same school in the spin-off, where her marital relationship with Kei is an open secret at the school. Her secret half-alien nature is described in the scene allusiioned by the previous two sentences in the first episode.

Mizuho came to Earth to monitor the planet, but inadvertently she was seen by Kei as she was just landing on Earth. Although she didn't trust him at first, she started to become attracted to Kei and eventually falls in love with him after they shared secrets about their past to one another. Kei and Mizuho are found in a locked storage room by Kei's uncle and the principal, his uncle impulsively tells the principal that Kei and Mizuho are married. Later, Kei and Mizuho do get married, though only the paperwork is done while there was no official ceremony.

Etymology[]

Mizuho's surname Kazami means "wind" (風) (kaza) and "to see" (見) (mi).

Trivia[]

With her glasses and hair tied to a ponytail, Mizuho looks very similar to Kendrix, a character from the live-action TV show, Power Ranger Lost Galaxy.
Not counting her Space Suit, Swim Suit or Pajamas, of the five plain outfits Mizuho wears, her Teacher Outfit is the only outfit that Mizuho rarely goes barefooted in, only barefooted in one episode, this is likely because in schools, footwear (in some occasions) are not allowed to be taken off during school.
Mizuho is the only one in the Kazami family to have her belly button be reviled when having her plain outfit, as in episode 1, after Kei accidentally bumps into Mizuho and falls on her, Mizuho's sweat shirt lefts up and exposes her belly button, and the camera does a zoom in on Mizuho's belly button.
- Adding into that, Mizuho's belly button appears to be very different in comparison to Hatsuho, Maho and any other female character's belly buttons, as her belly button appears to be very small and closed in, while others are semi-big and are opened a bit.
Mizuho is quite different comparing to Maho and/or Hatsuho in terms of her plain outfits she wears, seeing as:
- Mizuho is the only one in the Kazami family to also wear pants (as in Capri Pants) with one of her plain outfits, while Hatsuho and Maho just wear dresses or skirts.
- Mizuho is also the only one in the Kazami family to have a selection of plain outfits, while Hatsuho and Maho only have one kind of plain outfits.
- Mizuho is also the only one in the Kazami family to have more then one kind of footwear with her plain outfits, Hatsuho and Maho only have one kind of footwear with their plain outfits.
In episodes 1, 6 and 12, the three episodes were Mizuho wears her sandals with the first outfit, the sandals act very differently, one time they would be thin in the bottom areas, have thick clecks at the heel and have the holder be near Mizuho's toes, but other times they would be thick in the bottom areas, clecks would be absent and the holders would be in the middle of Mizuho's feet.
There's appears to be an animation error in episode 9, as it shows Mizuho wearing longpants, were as in the next scene she is shown wearing capris.
Mizuho's Space Suit differs from Hatsuho and Maho's Space Suits, seeing as it is the only one to:
- Be more like a jumpsuit, as a posed to Hatsuho and Maho's were they look more armored-like.
- Not have her belly button be exposed, while Hatsuho and Maho have their belly buttons exposed in their Space Outfits
  - Tho the reason for this is likely due to the incident in episode 1.
It appears that Mizuho has two ways of positioning her feet while kneeling barefooted, in episode 1 her feet are parsitly splayed out on her sides and her feet are semi straight, but in episode 6 her feet are behind within her rump and are bent in together.
Of the outfits worn by Mizuho, the outfit she first wears is probably her favorite (next to her teacher outfit that is), as it appears in four episodes, those being episodes 1, 6, 9 and 12 in that order.
- Interestingly, during those four episodes when wearing that outfit, Mizuho is usually always (though not all the time):
  - With her hair down and not having glasses.
  - In Kei's house.
  - A coming thing is that Mizuho is also seen barefooted when having that outfit, which is odd seeing as she has red colored sandals when wearing that outfit.
    - Adding in to that, the two episodes were Mizuho was kneeling barefooted is when she's wearing that outfit, implying that she does not like going kneeling in skirts or dresses.
In episode 6, during the scene were Mizuho was kneeling barefooted while eating Pochy with Hatsuho and Maho, her feet looks different, as they look smaller and appears to be flatter at the front of the toe areas, also during that time Mizuho was kneeling barefooted, she only had two toes and they look smaller.
Mizuho is the first character in Please Teacher! to go on her knees barefooted.
- Prier to episode 7, Mizuho was the only character in Please Teacher! to go kneeling barefooted, most other characters either go kneeling when having footwear or socks, or characters that do go barefooted nevered goes on their knees. It wouldn't be until episode 7, were Hatsuho (Mizuho's mother) goes on her knees barefooted.
Mizuho loves eating pochy, a Japanese snack that is a biscuit stick covered with chocolate and she eats Pochy because it reminds her of her dead father; an empty box of Pochy was all Mizuho has left of him, but Hatsuho Kazami (Mizuho's mother) and Maho Kazami (Mizuho's younger sister) are also seen eating it in several episodes.
- Pochy is a fictional version of an actual snack known as Pocky.
Mizuho's catch phrase is "Saiyūsen jikō yo!" ("This is a priority one!").
